07-10-2004 Sir Jackie Stewart doubts F1 will ever race through London. The Scot, president of the Silverstone-owning club 'BRDC,' believes there has been an ''exaggeration of ... optimism,'' according to the Evening Standard. He said it'll clog-up the city and chew-up taxpayers' money. Stewarts' pessimism seems partisan, as might Eddie Jordan's - his Formula One team calls Silverstone home. ''It's a daunting project,'' said the Irishman. ''It's going to cost a lot of money and need a lot of organisation.'' Sir Jackie believes a London GP would be a 'flash-in-the-pan. ''[London] would not have a [motor] industrial area,'' he predicted. * Stewart said the BRDC is now 'negotiating with a promoter' to run the British GP in '05 and '06. ''But we need a [longer term] solution,'' the Scot admitted. |
