David Coulthard like a brilliant athlete made a smooth and beautiful start as he cruised through into first position from being second on the grid. Taking the lead from BMW Williams Montoya, Coulthard never relinquished his lead, where he stayed through out the entire race to the checked flag.

An intelligent pit stop keept the decent distance David built up between himself and Michael Schumacher. Respect to David today, Nice Win For McLaren and well done David.

A lap of Monaco with Jenson Button

I approach the first corner at Monaco at around 275kmh in top gear. There is quite hard braking here so I need to bring the car down to around 90kmh and go into second gear for the first corner.

On the long drag up the hill I will reach 270kmh in top gear before dropping down to third gear for the left-hand corner which I will apex at around 145kmh. I will hold third gear into Casino but will need to reduce my speed to just over 120kmh for this difficult right-hand corner where the car goes very light.

On the down hill run towards Mirabeau I will reach around 210kmh in fourth gear before breaking to just over 70kmh in second gear for the tight righthander. Very shortly after this I will be entering the Loews hairpin, one of the slowest parts of the circuit, where I will apex at around 45kmh in first gear using full lock to get round this corner.

Immediately after leaving this corner I will engage second gear and then have to brake lightly for the next right-hand corner which I will take at around 75kmh.On exiting this I will get to full throttle for one second before having to brake again to a very similar speed for the corner that leads into the tunnel.

Through the tunnel I will be flat out, although it is not easy as there is curve through here and the circuit is quite bumpy but I should exit the tunnel at nearly 290kmh in top gear before braking very hard and downhill for the first bit of the chicane which is taken at 78kmh and then letting the car lose speed while maintaining first gear and taking the second apex at around 60kmh.

A short straight where I will reach around 225kmh in fourth gear leads to the next relative fast left-hander which I will take at 142kmh in third gear. I will then achieve something over 200kmh in fourth before going into the first of the swimming pool chicanes which I will take at between 180 and 190kmh in fourth gear. For the second chicane around the swimming pool I need to brake again very hard to drop my speed down to 80kmh for the first one and 90kmh for the second one - both taken in second gear.

In the approach to Rascasse I will reach around 185kmh in third gear before braking this difficult left-hand corner and bringing my speed once again right down to around 45kmh and first gear for this very tight hairpin.

Traction out of here is very difficult but I will nevertheless need to pick up speed here as the final corner is again very slow at around 75kmh in second gear. The exit to this is very tricky as the car flick both left and right but I need a good exit from here so that I can cross the finish line at around 260kmh in top gear.
