NEWS Ralf response didn't 'take too long' - Mosley
DRIVERS STANDING
07-03-2004

FIA president Max Mosley has defended F1's 'medical car' procedures for failing to get a doctor anywhere near Ralf Schumacher's Indy shunt within 100 seconds.

The retiring Briton said there has been 'a lot of misunderstanding' in the media and now in the Grand Prix Drivers' Association that a response 'took too long.'

He reckons in the 'worst case,' Ralf's heart might have stopped and he might have 'stopped breathing' after a shocking 77G impact into the concrete wall.

''Provided you can get a ... expert to him within two minutes,'' said Mosley, ''it's possible to ... keep him alive to go on to a life support machine.''

Max said the '120 second' rule is reasonable for Formula One.

* Former F1 boss Guy Ligier has bought a chunk of Magny-Cours based 'Automobiles Martini' and has vowed to sell a new F1-like 'Ligier' design to racing schools.
