Parting
Max has 'one more job' to do 07-03-2004 The FIA's retiring Max Mosley has one more job to do ... He has asked Formula One teams to make proposals to significantly slow the cars down by '05 but admitted the actual chance of that occurring 'is fairly remote.' So Max is writing-up his own 'precise' set of regulations. ''If they don't do anything,'' he told the media at Magny-Cours, ''then these will be the [rules] we adopt.'' It'll involve a new engine/tyre/aero formula. Mosley thinks Michelin's proposal to slow speeds via tyres whilst averting a 'monopoly' is workable. A 'one-engine-per-two-weekends' rule will be added. In '06, teams will decide whether they want to go for 'rev limited' 3.0 litre V10s or a new 2.4 litre V8 formula (that'll be adopted by the manufacturers). Max believes his parting reform can 'get new teams in' in the next few seasons.
