Nick Heidfeld
and Felipe Massa set the two fastest times today as they completed
Team SAUBER PETRONAS's three-day test at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona.
Nick set the best time of 1m 17.891s over 73 laps, while Felipe managed
1m 18.605 s over 67 laps.
Willy Rampf
(Technical director): "Thanks to the reliability of the new SAUBER PETRONAS
C21 we have been able to complete our entire testing programme despite
numerous red flags for other teams during the past three days. We are
very confident in the results that we have achieved so far."
Nick Heidfeld: "This has been a satisfactory test for us. Today
I concentrated on set-up work for qualifying in Melbourne, and despite
a minor driveshaft problem this morning we were able to do more work than
yesterday. The car was well balanced in qualifying trim and it's always
nice to be fastest, but what will really count is what happens at the
first race."
Felipe
Massa: "I feel that I have learned a great deal this week, about the
business of getting the most from an F1 car and about the C21 itself.
Everything has been very positive, but there is still so much more to
learn. Today I had my first experience of running an F1 car in qualifying
trim, and I am pleased that I managed to improve my times."

Ferrari return to
Italy early.
With just
a day and half of testing in Barcelona
Ferrari packed up and return home to Italy.
Due to both cars being too badly damaged yesterday to be repaired away
from home.
Both cars suffered damaged when first Ferrari driver, Michael Schumacher
crashed backwards into the barriers at Turn 11. Then Rubens Barrichello
hours later hit the barriers side-on at Turn 9. Neither drivers where
hurt.

Rubens Barrichello Ferrari was quicker that team mate Michael Schumacher
today, but Nick Heidfeld is the one to watch.
Nick Heidfeld and Felipe Massa continued to set a competitive
pace during the second day of Team SAUBER PETRONAS's latest test at the
Circuit de Catalunya. Nick was third fastest with a time of 1m 18.749s,
during the course of 86 laps; Felipe was tenth on 1m 20.379s, having completed
82 laps. At the end of the day both drivers were invited by Bridgestone
to hand out trophies to karting competition winners between the ages of
seven and 16.
Willy Rampf (Technical director): "Today Nick focused on testing
a number of configurations for the launch and traction control on the
SAUBER PETRONAS C21, as well as undertaking an intensive development programme
for Bridgestone which yielded much useful information. Felipe's day was
spent undertaking his first Grand Prix distance, and his lap times were
consistent. Again, we are satisfied with progress."
Felipe Massa: "This morning I had a minor problem with the hydraulic,
when I tried to do my first Grand Prix distance, but the team reacted
very quickly to rectify it and I was able to complete my mission, and
take a step closer to being a Grand Prix racer, this afternoon. I expected
my neck to be sore but it's fine, thanks to all the work I did over the
winter with our Team Sauber Petronas physio, Josef Leberer."
