Formula One has lost a 'good guy.'

Paul Stoddart said Minardi's sporting director John Walton died of a heart attack just before midnight on Friday at the St. Thomas Hospital in London.

'''John Boy' was [once] part of our family too,'' mourned Eddie Jordan.

He said the Irishman, 47, would not have wanted the Paddock 'moping around.

''But we can't help being sad. It's a great loss.''

Walton's partner was ITV 'pitlane' presenter Louise Goodman.
