NEWS McLaren to oppose '05 reform
DRIVERS STANDING
07-11-2004

McLaren might object to new F1 rules because they'll only drive-up costs.

Technical directors met at Silverstone mid last week and agreed that in the principal interest of safety, chassis modifications will be made in '05.

Tyre and engine changes should then come in later.

But Dennis worries the proposals - such as an extension to the 'one-engine-per-weekend' regulation and design methods - could be 'horrendously expensive.'

* Mark Webber has joined the call for slower grand prix cars.

The Australian claims some circuits are on the 'edge' of safety. ''It's dangerous,'' said Jaguar's star. ''We all want to see drivers survive.''
