| DRIVERS STANDING |
07-09-2004 If Anthony Davidson fails to land a spot on the '05 race grid, Brackley-based team BAR-Honda will retain him as test driver, the Briton confirmed on Thursday. England's diminutive star has impressed in the 'Friday' role this season. ''A lot of that (pace) is real,'' he claimed at Silverstone. ''I get more tyres [than the race drivers] and I'm running a few more [engine] revs, but we're all on similar fuel loads. The future is looking quite good.'' Ant has signed a couple of new managers - Dave and Steve Robertson - who handle Kimi Raikkonen and put Davidson's old friend Jenson Button on the grid in '00. ''But there are no discussions [with potential teams] yet,'' he added. The 25-year-old confirmed BAR's Dave Richards would release him from a long-term testing deal if he put-together a race seat 'so I have to thank [him] for that. ''But if I don't do something I'll test ... and try again.'' |
