07-25-2004 Ferrari has scrapped next year's Formula One car because of the FIA's last-minute changes to technical regulations, Ross Brawn said at Hockenheim. The technical director told Reuters that many teams - including the one based at Maranello - are likely to kick off season '05 with the current-model charger. ''We'd already started,'' he said, ''[but] most of that is [now] scrapped.'' Brawn confirmed Paulo Martinelli's new engine design - already on the dyno - has been halted, as has the '05 gearbox and some elements of the chassis lay-out. But Ferrari won't complain too loudly. Ross said the teams are to blame because they didn't respond 'early enough' to Max Mosley's insistence that next year's challengers must be slower for safety. |
