must quit smoking - research 07-09-2004 The world must conspire to end F1's addition to tobacco. Richard Hurt, director of nicotine dependence at the US' Mayo Clinic, is appalled the sport is racing to countries with less anti-tobacco ad laws. He urged those countries to ratify the 'WHO Framework' against smoking. Hurt said in the British Medical Journal that BAR was founded by British American Tobacco to promote smoking because advertising is banned elsewhere. He claimed internal 'documents' prove BAT has been successful. * BAR's technical director Geoff Willis admits pace at the French GP at Magny-Cours was a ''bit of a puzzle. We thought we would be much quicker there.''
