07-04- 2004 Don't expect a 'classic' French GP on Sunday. Renault's engineering boss Pat Symonds said even though Magny-Cours has a long straight leading into a tight hairpin, ''it's actually very hard to overtake.'' The French-owned team's Fernando Alonso is on pole. He said the only real way to overtake into 'Adelaide' hairpin is an almost impossible differential of about 15kph going into the corner's braking-zone. Symonds, who expects to see both two and three-stop strategies in play in the grand prix, said 15kph is the gap between the 'fastest and slowest' cars here. * There is a small chance of rain in the Nevers region on Sunday - a forecast said a cloudy day in the mid-20s holds 'a 20 percent chance' of a shower or two. |
