NEWS Coulthard and Sauber
DRIVERS STANDING
07-25-2004

David Coulthard. Sauber.

Someone whispered the two names into a reporter's ear at Hockenheim as apparently the Scot favours a Swiss home to another option in Milton-Keynes.

McLaren's Ron Dennis would quite like to keep him, though.

He said in Germany that if the team's nine-year veteran does not ''get a drive, we would discuss whether there is a [test driving] role for him [here].''

DC, 33, was less than enthralled with the offer.

''I intend to race,'' he said of '05, ''but I'm pretty relaxed about the future. First I've got to do a very good job -- there's seven races to go [in '04].''

Clearly, David's fortune affects McLaren's incumbent test drivers Alex Wurz and Pedro de la Rosa after Dennis said he had not yet taken-up contract 'options.'
