07-10-2004 Jenson Button's BAR wore a new aerodynamic package on Friday. But he was only fifth quickest at Silverstone ''so we might just save the parts for [the next test at] Jerez,'' said team technical director Geoff Willis. F1 is approaching a big summer ban on track testing. So ''we're trying to get as many bits on the car as possible,'' GW added. ''But you need to be careful - if you rush, you often take a step backwards. It wasn't a good day for us today. It might be logical to save the pieces.'' * Pat Symonds laughed Renault might install a 'Mickey Mouse alarm clock' in Jarno Trulli's R24 in case someone tries to pass him here at Silverstone. The Italian lost a podium place within six seconds of the French GP finish. ''I guess I have a bit of sympathy when a mistake is so public,'' said the engineering chief. ''But we're not very tolerant. It was pretty basic.'' |
